Montana, Through Serena’s Eyes
There’s something about taking a bunch of women out of their everyday lives and dropping them somewhere wild and beautiful with their cameras.
Montana gave us mountains, waterfalls, long drives, ridiculous laughter, quiet moments, new friendships, and a whole lot of space to make something just because we wanted to.
Every Unraveled retreat is different. New places, new people, new adventures, new energy — and we’re always dreaming up where we’ll take you next.
This was Serena Grimson’s first Unraveled retreat, and we asked her to tell us what the experience felt like from her side. Her words are beautiful — and the photographs she made while she was there are haunting, strange, beautiful, and completely her.
Here’s Serena’s take on Montana:
This was my first time joining my Unraveled fam for a retreat, and somehow, despite all the reasons I had to talk myself out of going, I kept feeling pulled toward this one. I first saw this retreat a year ago, and it stayed with me. So I finally took the leap and found myself in Montana, surrounded by incredible, like minded women who made it surprisingly easy to feel at home. Even though many of them had shared retreats and memories before, I never felt like an outsider. There was such a genuine sense of connection, encouragement, and community. Getting to explore the wild beauty of Glacier National Park and the landscapes around Montana with these humans was something I’ll carry with me for a long time. I stepped far outside my comfort zone, said yes to something that scared me a little, and came home with a very full heart and a collection of photographs that hold a little piece of that experience.
