This week, we are thrilled to celebrate Mackenzie C. Free as Unraveled’s newest Artist of the Year and honestly, we’re IN LOVE with her submission this week!
This beautiful image is by Mackenzie of Flatwoods Farm Collective, a truly valued member of Unraveled Academy. Mackenzie has a gift for turning simple moments into something meaningful. Her work is rooted in connection and honesty, and she uses light in a way that feels both natural and intentional.
What stands out about Mackenzie is the way she sees her subjects, really sees them. She doesn’t chase trends or overcomplicate things. Instead, she leans into story, stillness, and the kind of moments most people would overlook. In this image, she uses shadow and sunlight to show connection without ever needing to show a face. This image is proof that emotion doesn't need to be loud to be powerful.
We’re grateful to have Mackenzie in the Unraveled community. Her work reminds us why we pick up a camera in the first place: to feel something real.
