Teri Hofford is a shoot-you-straight, no bullshit kind of lady. She’s strong, hilarious, determined, and working her ass off on the daily to make a difference for women. Her mission is to get women’s head straight so they can start seeing and embracing their bodies and quirks.

She has taught two courses for us in the Academy. The first one she released was “Boudy Positive: Beautifully Authentic Boudoir.” We loved that one so much that we asked her to come back for more, so she partnered with the lovely Abbie Rose Wilson to create “After Baby Beauty.” It’s a smack-you-in-the-face, soul inspiring course.

WHAT INSPIRES YOUR ART?

I have always photographed women looking fearless, strong, confident and from a voyeuristic perspective so it wasn’t for anyone other than themselves.  I want women to know that they can feel and be anything they want without any judgement.

WHAT DO YOU SHOOT WITH? CAMERA BODY AND FAVORITE LENS?

Currently Canon 5DMKIII w/ sigma 50mm or 35mm and my Fuji XT20 w/ 35mm for travel

WHAT OTHER WAYS DO YOU EXPRESS YOUR CREATIVITY?

haha!  I also play music and I looooove to write and art journal.

How do you de-stress at the end of the day?

I cuddle with my husband and the cat and watch Netflix, but usually fall asleep on him.

WHAT KIND OF MUSIC DO YOU LISTEN TO WHILE EDITING?

Everything :P and I binge shows in the background on Netflix as well.  I HATE silence.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE BOOK?

The Alchemist.  Changed my damn life.

NAME ONE MOVIE THAT INSPIRES YOU.

Atomic Blonde (the use of gels is AMAZING) and sometimes I will watch a bunch of “weird” movies to get out of my comfort zone.  But USUALLY music videos inspire me more than movies!

HOW DO YOU HANDLE SELF-DOUBT OR CREATIVE SLUMPS?

I shoot through it.  I challenge myself to creating within a bunch of constraints (ie. use only a chair and create an entire useable gallery of images)  Self doubt, thankfully, is something I don’t deal with too much, but if I do, get off the internet! It’s the worst for creativity and self doubt.

WHAT HAS BEEN THE MOST DIFFICULT PART OF YOUR CREATIVE JOURNEY?

Being an entrepreneur: learning to run a fully, functional business AND stay creative for myself.
