For most photographers, importing photos in to Lightroom begins with creating a folder in some arbitrary location, naming that folder something like “Smith Family Session”, sticking in their CF/SD card, copying those photographs to that location, opening Lightroom and FINALLY starting the import process. If this is you, STOP IT!!! Follow these tips instead and let Lightroom help you be organized.
