Unraveled Expert Artist | Alex Elaine, Unraveled

Alex Elaine documents families and newborns but her greatest passion lies in documenting motherhood. She longs to create images that make you stop and feel the moment and she finds that she is most successful doing that when a free spirited mother and her children are in front of her camera. THAT is when her heart and passion truly sore. Her work is full of movement, soul and warmth.

Here is Alex, Unraveled…

What inspires your art?

Many things. This can be a moment, or movement, or sunlight spilling over the hills and meadows. Sometimes it is a little melody I hear, a color I see. But most often it is person that inspires me, something she is doing in a certain way or how she interacts with the ones around her.

What do you shoot with? Camera body and favorite lens?

I shoot with a Nikon D750 and my favorite lens is the Sigma Art 35mm.

What other ways do you express your creativity?

Creativity is like an ocean to me- I just love to dive into it and swim. Following different ideas like those beautiful multicolored fish... I love working with words, turning them round and round, or just letting them flow into stories or little sentences. I also love to work with all sorts of paint, I love color. I like to arrange flowers and it makes me so happy when I create a bouquet with suprising textures or or color combinations.... and there is so many more I like to do and create.

How do you de-stress at the end of the day?

After a long day I love to watch a movie accompanied by some sweets and a cup o tea to relax.

What kind of music do you listen to while editing?

I listen to love songs mostly- in any genre and language.

What is your favorite book?

I love many books. So this is hard to say... Maybe its the "Unbearable lightness of being" by Milan Kundera.

Name one movie that inspires you.

Atonement, definitely. I just love the story, the coors in the movie... everything about it.

What has been the most difficult part of your creative journey?

Getting out there with my photography. Overcoming my fear and daring to show my work to the world, was surely the hardest part for me.

Who is one of your favorite photographers?

Keziah Kelsey for sure- I love the kindness in her images. Can I name another one? If so, it would be Sally Mann. And that girl on instagram posting the most amazing images of Iceland @simon_br_photography and honestly so many more...
