What inspires your art?

Oh gosh, so many things inspire me, the way the sun light peaks through the trees, an outfit, my emotions. However if I were to dial down to a couple, I would choose my childhood and music. Let me explain, there are parts of my childhood that were filled with joy, freedom and love that replay in my heart. Those little old moments inspire me to chase those feelings I hold dearly onto and to document it. Music is another big part in inspiring me! Lyrics, rhythm and the way I let the song bring my emotions to surface helps me envision those feelings. Almost like I'm creating my own little music video through stills and interpreting what that song playing means to me, then adding in the details of the those in front of me to make it our own.

What do you shoot with? Camera body and favorite lens?

I shoot with a Sony a7iii and my go to lens is my sigma 35mm!

What other ways do you express your creativity?

I go to Hardcore shows, as the hardcore scene has always been a family I belonged. I also really love creating in general. From little videos, flyers, moodboards, and so on.. However for the most part, I always look forward to shows.

How do you de-stress at the end of the day?

I might get some judgement for this, but I love to be alone with a cup of coffee, a cigarette and easy on the soul music playing. Nothing keeps me from a spiral of overthinking than that moment to sit and process my feelings with my unhealthy vices.

What kind of music do you listen to while editing?

It totally depends!! If I'm in a "Let's get shit done today" mood, then Hardcore. Other than that, I listen to the type of music that makes you daydream of the perfect sunset and slow motion dancing.

What is your favorite book?

Alright, I honestly have not read a book in almost a decade. I quit reading and I'm not sure why. Although, a book I read back then that I loved was Fire at the Triangle Factory.

Name one movie that inspires you.

The Road Within

How do you handle self-doubt or creative slumps?

I don't, I fall into a deep depression first. However, when I'm unable to speak kind to myself, I have a husband who speaks encouragement and kindness to me until I can get into a place where I can speak kind and believe the words I'm saying out loud of myself. It's quite honestly a wild ride I feel like I'll be on for the rest of my life. One thing I've learned, is to be proud of yourself for coming out of that slump. It can be so dark and isolating, so let the fact of you overcoming that chapter be of light and joy.

What has been the most difficult part of your creative journey?

I think the most difficult part has been finding myself of being worthy as a photographer. I came into this as a single mom working as a housekeeper using my moms old Nikon camera as i didn't have even a sliver of money to purchase one of my own. My new boyfriend (now husband) was actually the one who pushed me to pursue this. I've always loved taking photos, so actually feeling worthy of being a Photographer bringing in income and actually being passionate about it has always been a fight. Especially when it comes to charging my worth and advertising my work.

What is your favorite pizza topping?

Cheese? Anything really except pepperoni. I despise pepperoni.

What is your most favorite kind of light and why?

I love it all, I really do. But there is something about evening Blue Hour that quiets the loud when shooting. It's so still, you can see everything around you with a soft film and it's almost as the only thing that matters is the right now of that day.

Who is one of your favorite photographers?

That's a hard one, so many that I adore!! Right now it's Cam Mackey. His work is out of this world!

What is your favorite course or lesson at Unraveled?

In person>online. Hands down, I've really enjoyed the retreats and get away with the Unraveled family. I don't think anyone knows truly how much it helped push and encourage me to keep pursing this little dream!
