WHAT INSPIRES YOUR ART?
My four littles are definitely what inspire me in so many ways. Documenting their lives in a raw and pure way is what kick started this journey for me. I always knew storytelling photography is what I was drawn to and was exposed to it very young by my grandmother. After my first son was born (a very traumatic birth) this really pushed me to document this journey, all of it. They continue to push me creatively in so many ways!
WHAT DO YOU SHOOT WITH? CAMERA BODY AND FAVORITE LENS?
I shoot with a Sony A7III. And almost always I have my 35 mm 1.4 on it. I am a pretty minimal photographer. So I also have a few other lenses, but not many and often I only carry my 35 1.4 and my 28 mm 2. I also own a 7.5 (new actually) and a nifty fifty that I use for free lensing.
WHAT OTHER WAYS DO YOU EXPRESS YOUR CREATIVITY?
Music and writing. I absolutely love to sing and music plays an important role in my life. I also love to write, when I can.
HOW DO YOU DE-STRESS AT THE END OF THE DAY?
Phew. Usually by binging a t.v. show with my husband. Or working out. I love to work out and it helps me relax in so many ways.
WHAT KIND OF MUSIC DO YOU LISTEN TO WHILE EDITING?
I actually don't listen to music while editing! Ha. I usually have a show or podcast playing in background. We don't do a lot of screen time, but I never get to edit until after bedtime. So a funny podcast or nice show on hulu is my jam while editing.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE BOOK?
Gosh, I have several. The five people you meet in heaven by Mitch Album is one of them for sure.
NAME ONE MOVIE THAT INSPIRES YOU.
Hidden Figures. This movie inspires me on so many levels. I love the perseverance of these women and their story.
WHAT HAS BEEN THE MOST DIFFICULT PART OF YOUR CREATIVE JOURNEY?
Staying true to myself and my soul. This. This has been so hard for me. I had a really rough year last year with several major life events and I just felt lost. It became so clear to me in this year how often I try to please others and how much I fear that others wont' like my work. I saw how it was so easy for me to compare myself to other artists and their works. So that, that has stopped. I'm feeding my soul and loving it.
WHO IS ONE OF YOUR FAVORITE PHOTOGRAPHERS?
I have a few... Paige Driscoll and Lindsay Saunders being two of them. I also love Michelle McKay.
