Unraveled Expert Artist | Lindsey Denniston, UEA
We are beyond excited to welcome Lindsey Denniston to the blog today as one of our newest Unraveled Expert Artists! What stands out with Lindsey’s work is her ability to capture childhood in an untamed and carefree way. Her use of light, the way she brings out texture in her edits, and the captivating way she composes her images, draws you in and leaves you wanting more. Her work has a 90s grunge vibe with a twist of whimsy…and we dig it.
Moreover, Lindsey lives in Florida with her two children and husband. When she isn't homeschooling her children, she's usually hiking, mountain biking, soap making, or watching homesteading and survival shows.

What inspires your art?
Capturing my kid's childhood through storytelling has always been a huge inspiration for me.
What do you shoot with? Camera body and favorite lens?
Nikon D750 + 35 mm lens
What other ways do you express your creativity?
I journal, make soaps, and sometimes paint with acrylic.
How do you de-stress at the end of the day?
I end my day with a long hike in the preserve near my house. Then, we usually binge watch Alone or Primal Survivor with the kids.
What kind of music do you listen to while editing?
Folk music like Eva Cassidy, Tyler Childers, and the Wailin' Jennys.
What is your favorite book?
I'm the type of person who reads 10 books at one time. Lots of non-fiction related to un-schooling and protecting their childhood because this is the current season I am living.
Name one movie that inspires you.
I don't have one favorite movie that inspires me, but I would have to say anything made in the late 80's early 90's. I love the clothing, childhood nostalgia, and all the vibes it gives me. Sandlot, Now and Then, My Girl, to name a few.
How do you handle self-doubt or creative slumps?
I look to music, movies, and seasons to help me stay creative when I am in a slump.
What has been the most difficult part of your creative journey?
The most difficult part of my creative journey has been figuring out who I am as an artist and where I want to go...
What is your favorite pizza topping?
I love a good spinach and ricotta pizza.
What is your most favorite kind of light and why?
My favorite kind of light is low light because I like the results the best when I'm trying to edit for more of a moody vibe. I usually shoot outdoors in natural low light where I'll tuck my kids under a tree, a small bush, or in between a structure.
Who is one of your favorite photographers?
I love Lindsay Saunders with Forest and Field Photography! She is beyond creative in every way, and she inspires me daily with her creative reels, set-ups, drawings, pies, and nostalgic photography. She captures childhood so wonderfully!
What is your favorite course or lesson at Unraveled?
I don't have just one! Some of my favorite courses in UA are under the children category. Samantha Dell, Sarai Jacobs, Sarah Driscoll, Lindsay Saunders, Tiffany Benacquista, Joy Prouty all stand out because they teach on capturing their children in creative ways. They are all such different artists which allowed me to get an in depth look at their unique perspectives.
