Unraveled Artist Feature | May 10th, 2026

“Birds of a feather, we should stick together.” — Billie Eilish

In a sea of photography communities, courses, memberships, algorithms, and education platforms, we have to take a moment for a humble brag (or honestly… not-so-humble brag): over the last decade, Unraveled Academy has somehow become a magnet for some of the most wildly talented, emotionally honest, creatively fearless artists on the internet.

Not just photographers chasing prettier photos. Artists chasing feeling. Artists willing to evolve. Artists willing to dig deeper.

The ones who stick around here are the ones dedicated to the craft on both a technical level and an emotional one. The ones willing to grow not only as photographers, but as humans. And one of the greatest honors of building this community has been getting to witness that evolution in real time — through retreats, conversations, heartbreaks, breakthroughs, creative pivots, and entire seasons of rediscovering themselves.

These weekly artist features are our chance to celebrate that growth. To spotlight the artists who make this place what it is. To scream from the rooftops about the humans who call Unraveled Academy home.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE NEWEST UNRAVELED ARTIST OF THE YEAR…

Lindsey Koppenheffer

Our NEWEST Unraveled Artist of the Year is someone incredibly close to the UA heart. 🖤

Featuring the work of Unraveled artist Lindsey Koppenheffer of Lindsey Rachel Photography — a Pennsylvania-based photographer, unapologetic truth teller, avid birder, and all around badass human.

Lindsey has shown up for this community again and again over the years. From CAMP Unraveled in Texas, to Reclamation in California, to our recent VORTEX Retreat in Sedona… she has continued to pour herself into both her art and the people around her. And honestly? Her work reflects exactly who she is. Deep. Bold. Honest in a way that kind of throat-punches you a little.

She’s the type of artist who knows exactly what she wants (and what she doesn’t), refuses to water herself down, and creates from a place that feels wildly true to who she is. She is absolutely our spirit animal over here at Unraveled, and we are SO damn excited to name her one of our Unraveled Artists of the Year. 🖤

And this image? We loved it instantly. Not just because it’s beautifully nostalgic and emotionally layered, but because moments like this are so rarely documented — a mother and her middle-aged son sharing tenderness, playfulness, and connection. The fact that it’s also a self-portrait makes it hit even harder. Proof that motherhood keeps evolving long after the little kid years are gone.

This is your year, Lindsey. ✨

Also… if you know Lindsey, then you know her love for birds runs DEEP. Her bird photography is unreal and absolutely worth a follow: @lindsey.wanders
