As more and more artists join our team of UEA’s (Unraveled Expert Artists), we get more and more stoked for what the future holds here at the Academy. As many of you know, our UEA’s will be the first to be considered for teaching opportunities as they open up in the future; and with such talent amongst us, we know it is only going to get better and better around here. We gasped when we first viewed Tanya’s UEA portfolio. It was entrancing, to say the least. Her art is moody, mysterious and honest. We are beyond thrilled to have her with us and are excited to see what the future looks like for her here! Congrats Tanya!

What inspires your art?

Light, Emotion, Beauty, Love, My children, Nature

What do you shoot with?

Canon 6D and Canon 6D Mark ii lenses: Lensbaby Velvet56, 35mm Sigma Art 1.4, Canon 100 mm, Tamron 24-75mm

What other ways do you express your creativity?

I love to play the piano, draw portraits in realism, decorate my home

How do you destress at the end of the day?

Exercising, stretching, long hot bubble baths, wine and alone time with my husband!

What kind of music do you listen to while editing?

Classical, Indy, Rock, Rap, Metal, Pop anything and everything really!

What is your favorite book?

I am not really a fan of fiction... I have read some of the classics and I LOVE Jane Eyre! I was a "twilight mom" when that series first came out, lol! I love true crime and biographies about serial killers ( I am not weird I promise!) I LOVE reading anything photography related.

Name one movie that inspires you?

This is really hard for me! I don't really have any movie that inspires me I don't think. I have movie genres that I love. I love psychological thrillers, horror, and paranormal.

How do you handle self-doubt or creative slumps?

Seriously as soon as I start doubting myself I just STOP! I don't let the thoughts get too far. If I need to take a couple days break sometimes I will, otherwise I just keep pushing myself forward. My thought process is that I will never "arrive" in photography. I will always be learning and there will ALWAYS be somebody better. I choose to be happy for them and to continue learning this art. I just couldn't live without it! When I am in a creative slump I will go back and re- edit or edit images that were never edited. Sometimes I will purchase some e- learning course as well.
