The Muse: Sara Bosquez Photography
The Muse, from the Unraveled Academy
muse (noun) a person or personified force who is the source of inspiration for a creative artist
At Unraveled Academy, we believe inspiration lives in the seasons of becoming. In the quiet pauses. In the moments before everything changes. The Muse exists to honor artists who know how to see those moments—and hold them with care.
This series celebrates photographers who inspire us not only through their imagery, but through their intention. Artists who slow down, trust light, and allow emotion to lead. Artists who understand that photography can be both documentation and devotion.
This maternity session by Sara Bosquez is a beautiful reflection of that philosophy.
Bathed in warm, backlit light and grounded in nature, Sara’s work tells the story of a growing family with tenderness and restraint. The focus isn’t just on pregnancy—it’s on connection. On reverence for the mother’s body. On the quiet strength, softness, and anticipation that lives in this season.
Within the Unraveled community, we celebrate artists like Sara because her work reminds us that maternity photography doesn’t need to be overly posed or performative. It can be intimate. Dreamy. Honest. It can feel like art.
This is the kind of work that inspires us to keep creating. This is why we gather. This is what we call a muse.

What was your “muse” or inspiration for this shoot?
For all of my clients, I really want to capture who they are in that moment, with a little bit of magic sprinkled in. I LOVE this location. I stumbled upon it randomly, and the light is so beautiful in the evening, and the views are amazing. I really wanted to highlight the mother’s beauty, and tell the story of their growing family in a magical way.
What gear did you use for this shoot?
Nikon z6iii, a sigma 24-70 lens, and a dream filter!
What programs, presets or techniques did you use to edit these images?
I used Lightroom, and Phil Chester presets! For my images, I tend to turn down highlights, whites, and dehaze. It gives them that extra dreamy feel.
What advice or best technical tip would you give to new or aspiring photographers?
Don’t listen to what you “should or shouldn’t” do. Do what makes YOU happy and what you like. Don’t just follow trends because they are popular; make your own! I’ve seen so many photographers hating on backlit images recently, but I think they are so magical and dreamy and I’ll never stop!
