Lauren Wright is one of our newest Unraveled Expert Artists (UEA) AND she is now part of our team of instructors here at the Academy. Both of which we are stoked on. Based in Colorado, Lauren is a parenthood photographer who is always searching for true unprompted connections and stolen moments. Her work is full of depth and intensity and beyond that, she is kind and open and willing to share her talents and knowledge with us. We are so grateful for her presence here.

WHAT INSPIRED YOUR ART?
There are so many places I find inspiration, Human connections, their stories (and music). I love color, light and selective focus and how those elements can be used in an image to evoke a person’s emotions.
WHAT DO YOU SHOOT WITH? CAMERA BODY AND FAVORITE LENS?

WHAT OTHER WAYS DO YOU EXPRESS YOUR CREATIVITY?
I love planning things like what my yearly garden will consist of, what my holiday decor will be, how I can make little neat spaces for my daughter to play in!
HOW DO YOU DE-STRESS AT THE END OF THE DAY?
I cook dinner with a glass of wine (or bourbon) and good tunes!
WHAT KIND OF MUSIC DO YOU LISTEN TO WHILE EDITING?
Depends on my mood really. Mostly music with a chill vibe to it, but when I need to really get stuff done, I'm all over pop dance tunes or Pandora's hip Hop BBQ station.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE BOOK?
I don't know if I have a favorite book at the moment...I’m usually too tired at the end of the day to read so I find myself binge watching something on Netflix!
NAME ONE MOVIE THAT INSPIRES YOU.
ONE? Too hard!! Moulin Rouge, Big Fish, Finding Neverland. Finding Neverland is one of the most beautifully perfect movies ever made. I love the playful, romantic feel to the entire story. Its full of incredible wonder and I love the idea of believing in something that cannot be seen.
HOW DO YOU HANDLE SELF-DOUBT OR CREATIVE SLUMPS?
This question is hard for me, because man I do go through those rough times. I don’t think I ever do the same thing to get through them though. Sometimes I spiral and get lost, almost as if I forget what I am really wanting to do. Sometimes I freeze up, have to stop everything and reevaluate.
This year I am really trying to take good care of myself so that I don’t get so down when I feel a lack in creativity.
I want to be able to give myself some grace when I just can’t produce. I have to believe there is a bigger meaning for a slump. Maybe it’s the universe telling me to slow down and take care of something that I haven’t been taking care of.
WHAT HAS BEEN THE MOST DIFFICULT PART OF YOUR CREATIVE JOURNEY?
I'm not very good at creating boundaries between my work time and personal time, its a huge struggle for me.
